Why post it to us

New to this? A rehair replaces the ribbon of horsehair your bow plays with — the part that wears out. The stick itself is untouched. It’s routine care, like new strings, and it makes a tired bow feel new again.

Fully insured and signed for, both ways

Everything travels by Royal Mail Special Delivery, insured, signed for and tracked, in both directions. No couriers, no guesswork.

Rehaired by a trained bow maker

BVMA member, maker-trained, and a professional player. Craft authority most postal services can’t match — with a specialism in double bass.

Track your bow at every stage

From the moment you post it to the moment it’s back, you can see exactly where your bow is. No chasing, no wondering.

One clear price, no surprise quotes

Flat pricing, and if your bow ever needs more than a rehair we pause and ask first. Nothing happens without your say-so.

Book & pay

Your price covers the rehair and fully insured return postage. You just cover sending your bow to us, about £12 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, and we show you exactly how. So the whole thing costs around £90, all in.

How it works

  1. Book & pay online

Choose your instrument and pay online. Then tell us about your bow and pick the week you’ll post it. We send your posting address, the tube we recommend, and simple instructions.

  2. Post your bow to us

At the Post Office, ask for “Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm” (about £12). It’s fully insured and signed for. Keep the receipt: it’s your proof of cover. Our packing guide shows exactly how to pack it.

  3. We rehair & return

Follow every stage on your tracker, from received to shipped. Your bow comes back on our fully insured return label, ready to play.

Posting your bow is safer than it feels

We understand. Handing your bow to the postal system feels like a leap. So we keep it simple, and covered.

Everything travels by Royal Mail Special Delivery, insured, signed for and tracked, in both directions. When you send yours in, the counter staff set it all up: just ask for Special Delivery and keep the receipt. That receipt is your proof of cover. The small faff of the queue is exactly the thing that protects your bow.

Fine or valuable bow? For bows worth more than £2,500, get in touch first. Very fine bows are best seen in person, and we’ll happily point you the right way — usually to Barnett Bows.

What you get

The right hair, spread right

Top-grade horsehair, hand-selected and spread evenly from end to end, so the bow pulls a clean, even sound.

A clean stick

We clean the stick and check it over while it’s on the bench.

Time to settle

We let the hair settle before final tensioning. That means your bow plays right from the first stroke, not after a week of stretching in. Most services skip this. We don’t.

An honest turnaround

We rehair on Fridays. Arrive by Thursday and your bow is done that Friday, rests over the weekend, and is back in the post by Monday evening. Arrive later and it joins the next Friday. Either way, you get a firm return date the moment it lands.

Never wonder where your bow is

From the moment you post it, you can see exactly where it is:

On its way to us Received safely On the bench Settling Boxed & checked Shipped

We email you when it arrives, with a return date, and again when it ships, with tracking. No chasing. No wondering.

Is this right for your bow?

Ideal for student and mid-range bows, and for anyone without a good rehairer nearby.

If you have a fine or valuable bow, or something that needs more than a rehair, that’s worth an in-person look. For fine bows, restoration and bow making, see Barnett Bows.
